One out of every five U.S. federal health care dollars is spent treating people with diabetes.
The New York State Health Foundation has established the Diabetes Policy Center to support private and public payment policies that enable providers to sustain a more comprehensive, coordinated system of care for patients with diabetes. - Increasing access to comprehensive diabetes services and supplies
- Supporting healthy living environments
The Center will achieve its goals by:
- Educating policy makers and other stakeholders on important policy issues related to diabetes in New York
- Conducting and funding policy analyses
- Building consensus among stakeholders
- Leveraging additional resources
The Center supports the work of its partners by:
- Making up-to-date and actionable data available
- Disseminating information and tools
- Providing technical assistance to change or improve policies
- Convening stakeholders and facilitating policy change
- Ensuring public recognition for organizations that help reverse the diabetes epidemic
