Yasmine Legendre is the Policy Analyst for the Diabetes Policy Center. Before joining NYSHealth, Ms. Legendre was a Senior Analyst with the City of New York’s Office of Management and Budget, where she was responsible for policy and budget monitoring for the Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC). Ms. Legendre also was responsible for overseeing the $200 million City-funded portion of HHC’s budget, monitoring the overall $5 billion budget, and working on special projects such as understanding the impact of Medicaid rebasing on HHC and analyzing HHC’s workers’ compensation program to find potential cost savings.
Previously, Ms. Legendre worked at Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) on the Health Information Tool for Empowerment (HITE) project. As a program associate, she trained health professionals to use the tool and co-wrote grant proposals to continue funding the expansion of HITE throughout New York State. Ms. Legendre also monitored health insurance expansion legislation at all levels of government and conducted research on health insurance, which helped form the basis for a GNYHA proposal to expand coverage. Ms. Legendre holds a Master of Public Administration degree with a specialization in Health Policy and Management from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Cornell University.
